The 3D Art of Margaret vonKleist Emond:
My work evolves from a combination of formal art training in both painting and sculpture as
well as life experience. By pulling these two traditional art forms together and creating new
perspectives it becomes possible for me to discover a unique and limitless artistic reality.
The layers of each piece work to convey layers of meaning to the necessary siblings of art
and science through which each piece tells its story of exploration into the realms of color,
form and creativity. Universality and the spark of inspiration are combined in the essence of
the artwork evoking a movement, energy and wonder.
What began as a landscape morphed into a landscape of the creative
mind. Thoughts in their simplest form are electrical impulses created in
the brain and all of reality on the quantum level is made of electro
magnetic fields. In my mind the landscape became a visualization of an
expanse where ideas grow from the initial concept to a fully formed idea.

This piece of artwork speaks of a time in a fine restaurant when a delightful
elixir called an Asian Pear Martini was served to me. The first taste became
that perfect moment. It is that moment when one is completely sated,
satisfied and fulfilled and this was something I wanted to capture visually.

I used the image of the eye to invoke the idea of seeing the world with a
different perspective, much like the first time one opens one's eye
underwater. Some friends saw the finished piece and said it reminded them
of their recent trip to the Caribbean, and thus the origin of the title.
Essentially this is a 6 foot “splat” of static water that hangs on the wall. The gaily
colored sailboats drift along seemingly undisturbed by the impending storm. The
frame also suggests a cloud like formation and the embedded sliver skewers
represent rain. This is a piece about optimism and hope, thus a play on the
adage: “Every cloud has a silver lining”.

When I began this painting I had in mind an old fashioned electric fan but when I added the
“head” silhouette it took on cerebral proportions and it became largely about the way we think.
Much like a computer, I believe that our brain records the thought process at only one thought
at a time, even though we feel sometimes that our thoughts are multiple and are revolving in
different directions, thus the reason for the portrayal of letters N, S, E and W on the corners.

This piece speaks about humanity in a collective manner versus the individual.
We are born, and then we die, and in between we work together to propagate
our species, yet we try to evolve as individuals with our own thoughts and goals
to attain. To obtain this we are always in a state of constant motion.
